TRENDS: Fringes on clothes

Although some people may associate fringes on clothes with Western cowboys or something from the Great Gatsby, fringes- whether featured as tasseled hemlines or ankle straps on shoes, has definitely resurfaced as a trend during Fashion Week. It emerged on the runways of The Row, Joseph Altuzarra and Tibi.

Fringes can be featured on pretty much any garment of clothing. Such as formal wear; from stylish skirts to sassy cocktail dresses and elegant evening designs, the style is certainly a statement.

Fringe dresses are mainly found in black and white, as this is most chic and allows the detail to be the star of the outfit, without being overstated or attracting negative attention.

The summer season means an increase of bikini’s, and everywhere I have been seeing bikini’s with a fringe design on the bra. If you want to go for a more subtle approach to the fringe trend, I would recommend this look.

Celebrities have also been spotted wearing fringe. For example Jennifer Garner’s Oscar dress 2014. She was wearing an Oscar de la Renta silver, sparkling gown and an Oscar se la Renta clutch.

Solange was spotted in a long, elegant silver fringe gown at the Council of Fashion designers of America awards in New York.

And the stunning Olivia Wilde showed up in a floor-length black fringe dress.

What do you think? Love/like/hate it?
